Bangkok Butterfly Garden

During the week I had a sudden urge to go and find some butterflies to photograph. I found the Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium near to Chatuchak Park.

The butterflies are free to fly around, in spite of the netting to keep them enclosed. As a rule I much prefer seeing animals in their natural habitat but it was nice to get a little closer to these beautiful little creatures.

The butterfly garden is located in Rot Fai Gardens-just across the road from Chatuchak Park. It’s a little hard to find as all the signs are in Thai but ask a friendly soul, like I did, and they will point you in the right direction.

Located near Mo Chit BTS

Address: Rot Fai Gardens (near Chatuchak Market), Kamphaeng Phet 3 Road Road, Chatuchak, Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900

Open: Tuesday to Sunday 8.30am-4.30pm

Admission: Free

    1. Thank you Mike… It wasn’t too busy when I went. I also never realised that there was another park across from Chatuchak Park so was happy wandering around there for a couple of hours

  1. I have been to a butterfly garden once – incredible, place. The garden you have visited is almost a fairy tale! I appreciate your images taken in rather dark, humid conditions, with the vivid models not really willing to pose. Thank you for this fantastic experience!

    1. haha no they were not but easier than if I was outside. I tried to photograph insects outside before and it was harder that I thought for exactly the reason you mention, plus they don’t hand around long. Thank you so much for commenting 🙂 x
