Wat Benjamabophit or “Temple of the Fifth King” is a beautiful, marble temple which was constructed in 1899. It was designed by Prince Naris, the king’s half-brother. It is built of Italian marble, and the display of Carrara marble pillars and the marble courtyard are quite impressive. There are 52 Buddha statues situated around the main ordination hall. Inside the temple there is a Buddha statue under which King Rama V’s ashes are interred. Look out for the two large lions guarding the entrance to the main temple’s interior.
