King Rama V Equestrian Statue

The Royal Plaza, Uthong Nai Alley, Dusit, Bangkok, 10300
King Rama V went to Europe in 1907 and there he commissioned French craftsman, Georges Saulo, to cast this sculpture. The monument was erected as a reminder of King Rama V’s coronation. Because the King had been a major player in the modernisation of Thailand, the people wanted to show their gratitude towards him, so they raised the funds themselves in order for the statue to be erected.
