Back in 2021, I wrote a post and posed a question – What Does Art Mean To You?
(Unfortunately, by uploading my old website onto this new one, all the photos have disappeared and I don’t have the time or inclination to replace them, so if you want to check the full post, please use your imagination where the photos once were!) In short, what art means to me is:
An appreciation of talent
Learning
There is a story to tell
Excitement
Inspiration
Relaxation
It’s the last two points that have the greatest meaning for me. Having an interest in art inspires me to be more creative in my life. Inspiration feels like a burst of energy and I feel motivated to put my ideas into action. Doing art helps me relax and prioritises my mental wellbeing by getting totally engrossed in whatever I am doing which helps me to forget about all the stress and worries I may have.
I’ve written many posts about art in all its forms whether that was me visiting art galleries, going in search of street art or hosting my own exhibitions, but what I want to do here is to share some of my own creations.
I love painting by numbers just as much as creating in my own, unique style. I’ve explored fabric art, textured pieces, painted bookmarks and wood slices. I love drawing flowers and plants and then bringing them to life with paint on canvas or multi‑media paper. Lately, I’ve even started experimenting with watercolours.
I’m not very good, but I don’t care! I always say every creation is a good creation because when you create you leave a part of yourself in the work, and that’s what makes it beautiful!
